Date: Wednesday, January 8th, 2020
Time: 6 PM until ?
Location: Lake Superior Zoo, main building, lower level

This is our routine 2nd Wed. of the Month meeting time at the Zoo.  These meetings will be considered closed meetings for known active LSMAC members/zoo staff & volunteers only (basically, these are project-oriented meetings for the Zoo's reef tank, having unknown people walking in off the street isn't appropriate for these meetings).  We welcome new participants, but we just have to plan accordingly: for details and first-timers, please inquire.

Project planned: TBD

Was a good meeting, although I was the only one there this time! I brought over a Fluval 405 canister filter to replace the defunct prior filter that we'd been using to run as a media chamber. We also fragged a Pocillopora that had been in the main tank but was having some tissue loss, and replanted those frags in other parts of the tank. We also trimmed back one of the gorgonians substantially, and more gorgonian pruning will be needed in the coming months. A different Pocillopora that was in the back frag tank was fragged and two small pieces placed on the display side. The one remaining urchin from ORA was moved into the back frag tank soas to not disturb all the new SPS frags we planted out.

On the docket....QT tanks need work, particularly the fish one. The Coral one had a temp issue that killed most all of the remaining corals that were in there, along with nearly all the captive-bred yellow watchman gobies. We are somehow down to ONE Maze Angel (the smaller one vanished in late 2018), and we've had some other angel-related issues as the fish have grown, matured, changed sex etc.

There is one BTA that has migrated onto the main rockwork which we should try to remove as well.
